Tale as Old As Time [Finished]

Siegfried blanches. "I suppose we're not in any more danger than we were last month, but knowing about it makes it all the more... ominous, I suppose."

Lance shrugs. "I tried to make it easy..."

Morden stifles his snort, but tries to continue. "Though, I believe between the two of us  we should be able to wade through it. I imagine we will simply have to take it by years and go through one at a time."

Obsidian blinked a bit once he made it to the kitchen. "Ah...that's where you went."

Julie: No matter what you had done master lance it would be the same. the records would be the same, and you have helped greatly with what we will be doing after we sort out the books.

"Were the masters looking for this one? Apologies, this one did not indent to make oneself unavailable to the masters."

Siegfried places his fork down, turning to Obsidian. "Do you need something?"

Lance sighs, tucking hair behind his ear. "Yeah, yeah. The sooner we're done the better."

Obsidian gave a bit of a sigh. "A break. A few minutes peace...a lot of things that I'm not gonna get." He looked between the two. "Plus I figured Lance wasn't going to go into too much detail if I was around to hear it."

Echo stands, and picking up his still uneaten dinner offers his seat to Obsidian.

"Sit then, please. One suspects you may be here for some time and it would be better than standing."

Echo, after putting the food in the compost and rinsing off the dishes sits on a stool borrowed from the pantry.

Julie: indeed, the sooner we settle the accounts the sooner we can make the money work for you. But that is a task for more alert minds than we have at this hour. We should not work with such important numbers as money when we are addled with food, fine wine, and the lateness of the hour. Tomorrow will be soon enough to begin.

Siegfried gets up, clearing his mostly uneaten food as well. "I'll endeavor to keep out of your way," he adds, politely.

Lance frowns, but nods. "Of course. If you like, I can have Siegfried make up guest rooms?"

Obsidian frowned. "Don't you start that shit, too. Bad enough Lance starts acting like you've done shit all but help him without you doing the same thing."

"Wouldn't want to be too much trouble, but that might be for the best." Morden had finished his food. "Besides, the commute would be large enough that I would consider charging for it."

Julie: that would be most kind of you, my commute would also be significant and would unnecessarily delay our work.

Echo remains silently attentive perched uneasily on the stool he had borrowed from the pantry.

Siegfried hesitates. "...Far be it from me to argue with the Young Master."

"Then it's settled. I'll go find Siegfried," says Lance, relieved, as he gets to his feet.

Obsidian frowned. "Fuck that. You aren't any less part of this than he is, and if you REALLY thought that, you wouldn't have bothered visiting me, so I know that's bullshit."

Morden simply gave a nod before turning again to Julie. "I've been meaning to ask. Your firm, do you do general finance consulting, or is it more...tailored to each client? I've had issues with that in the past and it seems to cause some confusion.

Julie considers Morden's question for a moment

Julie: hmm.... certainly we do specialize a fair bit, and we do tend to recommend clients to other agencies if they are looking for something outside of our specialty, or look to be a particularly troublesome customer. Did you have a particular client in mind?

Siegfried flinches. "Please," he says, softly. "Let's just forget the matter of my parentage altogether."

[CalamityJade]

"Fuck that!" Obsidian glared at Siegfried. "Look, I get why things needed to be the way they were, even IF I thought the entire arrangement was bullshit to deal with other people's gabby fucking mouths, but the LEAST  that Lance can do is not throw that sort of shit in your face. You didn't fuck up on this and even IF he did everything he could, my brother was not perfect. So don't you DARE start acting like you deserve it!"

Morden couldn't help but chuckle. "Most of my clients are troublesome...granted, it's mostly from ignorance and an unwillingness to know your limits." He gave a bit of a sigh. "Part of the reason I like accounting. Usually when money is involved, people at least attempt to have sense."

Julie laughs.

Julie: Oh, don't get me started on the foibles of clients! even with money people are rarely completely sensible.
