"It's just his way," says Siegfried, sounding exhausted. "He doesn't appreciate what has been done for him. He never has, and he likely never will. It's enough to know that he's much happier than he would be if I left. In a way... it's the only thing I can do to repay the Master for taking me in. I can protect his son the way he protected me."

"..." Obsidian sighed. "Would have made more sense if he just...bah, that's the fucking past. Still doesn't mean you have to act like you don't care. I don't care if it's his way, he's being an ass, and until he stops, I'm gonna call him out every time I see it. He knows better, and eventually I'll beat that thing into his head."

Siegfried winces. "I must advise against that course of action."

"Noted and ignored." Obsidian shook his head. "You should know that I'm not one for holding my tounge. Probably why I didn't get invited a lot of public events."

[yamikuronue]

"And if he grows violent?" he asks, softly. "You saw how he behaves toward Julie."

Julie: He's an Alpha, and so am I. We were bound to never get along. Oh eventually we'll sort out a truce and get along okay, but never well. and yes it could be worse.... I still worry that he's going Feral and i'll be forced to try to kill him for that.... And i'm not sure we'd succeed. We've fought once before and we were barely keeping ahead of him... if he goes full feral and isn't slowed down by the internal fighting i'm not sure we could keep up.

Obsidian gave Sieg a look. "If I wasn't confident I could stop him, I wouldn't even be here. I don't care if he hates me or not, but if I can get him somewhere better than he is now, then that's what I'm gonna try to do. You can't tell me that he's better off doing what he has been."

Morden shook his head. "I can understand wanting to avoid that, but in my experience, there's only so much you can do to save someone from themselves. After all, wouldn't pushing it only make it more likely?"

"I meant toward me," he says,  quietly.

"He doesn't...he wouldn't hurt you. Hell, the wolf wouldn't even hurt you." Obsidian shook his head. "He trusts himself even less than other people."

"Now. But if I become a nuisance.."

Julie: Maybe it will, maybe it won't. But pushing it moves him out of the rut he's dug for himself. Change is better than the status quo, no?

Obsidian gave Siegfried a look. "You don't have to act like me, but you should make sure he knows when he crosses the line. I'm sure there's plenty he's said that you just let go because either you think you shouldn't say anything or...well, being scared, though I can't entirely blame the last one."

Morden shrugged. "Isn't all this change anyway? People being in here, his uncle apparently barreling through anything Lance puts up, he's in a lot of flux now anyway."

Julie: Yes, but is it change he will accept? is it change that will help?

Morden shrugged for a moment. "That, I cannot be sure about, but without the offer of change, nothing would move. He is moving, albeit slowly, and there is few things I can see that would make him move any faster...Sorry, I do not mean to sound vague. At the least he seems to accept his uncle, and despite what I would have imagined, he seems to have some idea of when to not push Lance."

Siegfried sighs. "I feel like he needs... acceptance, even more than discipline. If I could get him to see..."
