The Family [Finished]

"I say you can, and i've got a badge so what are you waiting for?" bear replies laughing kindly.

[yamikuronue]

Vic swallows, taking a deep breath. "Okay. Uh. Okay."

He bites his lip hard, but he manages to put the car in gear, reversing out of the parking spot at something like one mile an hour.

[accalia]

Unlike Tony's constant talking Bear simply watches and lets Vic work through his nervousness. "Becky's diner i think. " is the only comment he offers, naming their destination.

[yamikuronue]

"Oh-ohkay," he stammers, still driving very slowly.

[accalia]

Tony actually does an alright job of driving, he's overly cautious and several otehr drivers were audibly annoyed at his slowness, but he does manage to get them to Becky's on one piece and without hitting anything on the way.

"There now, that wasn't so bad." Bear comments as Vic parks.

[yamikuronue]

Vic stammers out, "y-yeah... not so b-bad." He's pale, his hands shaky, but he flashes a grin to Bear -- lopsided, weak, but a smile.

[accalia]

"now, after that fun. the best burgers in town." Bear says walking towards the diner. It's not that he's ignoring Vic's shakes, it's more, he's accepting them and moving on to the next step. vic did really did good and that's trhe important bit. the nerves weren't iomportant and would wear off.

[yamikuronue]

Vic follows his lead, his head high. He takes a deep breath, and then another, and then the shakes stop. I.... I did it. I really drove!

[accalia]

and it's only a matter of minutes before Bear and Vic are sitting down with their burgers piled high with fixings. "So, what's eating you this time?" Bear asks between mouthfulls of his 'includes the kitchen sink' burger.

[yamikuronue]

"Does something have to be bothering me to get lunch?" he asks, sullenly.

[accalia]

"No, but it does to have you chew your lip like you were when you came looking for lunch."

[yamikuronue]

"Oh," he says, quietly, staring down at his burger. After a moment, he sighs.

"I just... don't get it."

[accalia]

"You don't get what?" Bear asks, once again squeezing the question out between bites of the burger.

[yamikuronue]

"Anything," he adds, mournfully.

He takes a bite, chews, and swallows. "Do you think I fit in at the station?"

[accalia]

"Y'll never make a beat cop. wrong personality. y'd make a good officer with training, but you'd need to go to through beat cop t'get there. If you want to stick around i suggest going for investigation. y'r sharp and the personality fits."

Bear answers the question evenly enough, but missing the point of the question.
