"I ain't the one that needs to approve of that arrangement kid. That's between you and Tony. None of my business that."

[yamikuronue]

Vic's face falls, but he nods. "I just-- yeah, that's fair."

[accalia]

"If it helps, i do think you're a good kid and trying to do what you think is right..... at least with Tony. Not so sure with your other job, but then i don't have all the details."

[yamikuronue]

Vic nods, slowly. "I know it'll... someday, it'll kill me. The only thing I can do is to put aside enough money so that when I'm gone, they'll be okay."

[accalia]

"Oooooooooor. You get out of that job and find a solid one that pays better. You have been paying attention to what i've been saying, no?"

[yamikuronue]

"Nobody will let a girl be an investigator any more than they'd let one be a mobster. And I'd have to go back to school, which I can't do and work both."

[accalia]

"You'd be surprised. Cpt. White would have a styroke at the thought, but scuttlebutt says he ain't long for the department. Looks like he's got the attention of IA in the wrong way, and if he gets axed Tony's almost certainly to be picked to step into his role." Bear smiles at that "And i'm damn sure he'd hire you in a heartbeat of you went for the position and were qualified."

Vic looks oddly cheered by this for a moment, but then his face falls. "School." he protests again.

[accalia]

"That's only a barrier if you want it to be. A GED is just as acceptable as a diploma. It won't be the easiest thing to get, but you're smart enough for it."

[yamikuronue]

"I don't think I'm good enough to work two jobs and, what, do all the school stuff on my own?"

[accalia]

"Have you tried? You'll surprise yourself i think."

[yamikuronue]

Vic looks at his lap. "If you say so."

[accalia]

"That I do. Was there anything else you watned to talk about??"

[yamikuronue]

Vic shakes his head. "I just... wanted to speak openly."

[accalia]

"Well I'm glad you feel you can do so with me." Bear says smiling and turning back towards town.
