The Family [Finished]

[yamikuronue]

"You're.... cool." he says, after a moment.

[accalia]

"Hey now, stop that. I'll get a swelled head."

[yamikuronue]

When they get back to the office, everyone's been pulled into one of the big briefing rooms; Vic and Bear sneak in the back, listening to the tail end of the announcement.

It seems... hang on... Captain White has been suspended?!?

[accalia]

Bear blinks at that announcement.... "Inquiry into allegations of corruption and conduct unbecoming" and "Captain Tony will be acting in White's place in the interim"

"Huh. IA moves fast when they want to." Bear murmurs to Vic.

Tony on the other hand looks furious, probably because he knows how much extra paperwork this new position will entail.

Vic, meanwhile, looks positively elated. When the meeting breaks up, he moves to congratulate Tony on his promotion.

[accalia]

Tony waves off Vic's congratulations. "Just means more work, and apparently command conveniently forgot my stipulations when they put me in charge of night shift.... Take the rest of the shift off Vic, We're flipping to day shift and it's a lot less of a drag if you sleep first instead of working through the swing."

[yamikuronue]

Vic nods. "Are you coming home too?"

[accalia]

"Too much work. I'll use my day off tomorrow to flip instead. Take the car. I'll get Bear to drive me at the end of our shift."

[yamikuronue]

Vic frowns. "If you're sure," he says, doubtfully, then pauses. "Wait. I can't take the car! I'll get a ride from Bear, you take the car."

[accalia]

"Take the car Vic. Trust me, You'll be a far safer driver than I will at the end of my shift tonight." Tony's not having any of that 'i can't' business.

[yamikuronue]

Vic frowns, but he turns to leave.... except instead of heading for the front door, he goes to Bear's desk and clears his throat.

[accalia]

"Whats up kid? is bear's response "you can't be hungry again so soon."

[yamikuronue]

"Tony wants me to take off, but I can't drive alone and he doesn't want to take the car at the end of his shift." he reports, promptly. "Maybe you could give me a lift, or help me find a bus stop?"

[accalia]

Bear gives Vic "The Look"

"Why do you say you can't take the car yourself? Your driving was technically fantastic when we went for lunch, and while you were a little slow I see no reason why you are not capable of driving safely home on your own."

Vic groans. "I barely know what I'm doing. I'm not driving myself home."
