Haliel Lightsong

"Oh Carver," Haliel says, voice aching with compassion. She pulls him into a hug again. "Carver, you shouldn't... it's okay to be hurt, when things happen that are upsetting or painful. And it matters, that you were hurt. You matter. If  you're hurt, it should be addressed. Apologies, remedies, even punishments if needed. In this case, Beth very much wants to apologize and make up for it. And I don't think she'll argue at all about not doing, umm, a lesson like that again with you."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"I-- If you th-think it would he-help..."

Haliel Lightsong

"I do, but... what do you think?" Haliel prods. "You're allowed to have opinions, Carver. It's okay."
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

He swallows. "I-- I wanted to apologize anyway. So-- so I should go hear her out."

Haliel Lightsong

"Good. And what about you being upset?"
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

"Um." He says, hesitantly. "Maybe... I'll see how I feel when she apologizes?"

Haliel Lightsong

Haliel searches his face for a long moment, then smiles. "Alright. Just... if you need a minute, then ask for it. And if you're not sure about something, ask. Ask Beth or ask me if you prefer. I'm not there for just Beth or for just you. I'll be there to try and help both of you come to terms with things and heal." Hopefully together but...
I am the Light of My Soul.

Carver Amell

Carver nods, and a few minutes later, when the dishes are done, the pair make their way up to Beth's room again. This time, he knocks, hesitant, not wanting to intrude.

Haliel Lightsong

After a moment of no answer, Haliel reaches past him to peek inside. She gets a goofy smile and grins at Carver. "Still asleep," she whispers, opening the door to go inside. "But she said to wake her if you agreed to talk so... have a seat and I'll wake her?" she suggests, heading for the bed.
I am the Light of My Soul.

Bethany

His sister is curled up around a pillow, at the bottom of the bed- a once familiar sight to Carver, his twin always being a rather strange napper. Beth is a fairly light sleep, thankfully, so she wakes easily enough. Her hair is damp and loose and she's wearing a heavy nightgown, so evidently Carver isn't the only one that got a bath this afternoon. She yawns sleepily, and peers around. "Ma'win?" she slurs, not entirely awake yet.

Carver Amell

"Hey, sleepy," says Carver, kneeling by the side of the bed. He'd not wanted to stand back and let someone else wake his twin; how many times over the years have they woken each other in the middle of the night, for mischief or just a secret talk? Just because he's a boy now, he doesn't want to let that go away forever, make it improper to--

Are boy and girl twins supposed to be chaperoned? he finds himself wondering. Would we not have been allowed to be alone together if I'd been born right?

It's an odd thought, and one he pushes aside. "We brought food."

Bethany

"You raided the pantry?" she asks, sleepy bemusement in her voice. It's years since Carver felt that motivated... Wait. Blinking rapidly, Beth shakes her head to come alert. "Oh. Umm. H-hey? I mean, thanks."

Carver Amell

Carver smiles, then, a lopsided, slightly exhasperated smile -- a smile that isn't guarded, with nothing to hide. "Hey."

A moment later, however, it fades. "I'm really sorry," he begins, raking a hand through his hair. "I didn't mean to hurt you, Beth, but I did, and I'm really sorry about it. I'll be more careful in the future not to... not to bring that stuff up."

Bethany

Beth stares a moment, then bursts into tears- but she's smiling at him. "I- you- gods, we are still twins," she says, seemingly without reason.

Carver Amell

Carver blinks. "I'm... glad?"
