The Amell Legacy: Transgressions

[Marian Hawke]

She shakes her head, moving to rake a hand through her hair -- and winces, aborting the gesture as her cuts catch.

"I just-- it's fine."

[Varric]

"Liar."

[Marian Hawke]

"What do you expect," she snaps. "Gamlen is dead. I can't even vow to kill him. He nearly got Carol killed."

[Varric]

"Thank you," Varric says softly. "As for what to do? Help your... Brother."

[Marian Hawke]

He doesn't need me, she thinks to herself bitterly. He doesn't even know who I am.

She shakes her head, instead changing the subject. "Been thinking of changing gods," she says casually.

[Varric]

Wow. That was so smooth a topic shift it could sand down granite. "I'll humor the blatant shift but we're going to circle back- go on."

[Marian Hawke]

"Just, been Alydra sort of by default really. But... Nothing wrong with knowledge but Alydra has nothing to say about all this. The important stuff. I need something more active."

[Varric]

"Ah. Yeah, more than a few people have run into that problem with neutral deities. Alydra is my partron, but I look to Naugrix and Vangal at times. 'Learn more, be smart' isn't... It leaves some blanks as you said."

[Marian Hawke]

She wrinkles her nose. "Naugrix, huh? Seems... Also shallow."

[Varric]

Varric chuckles. "Can be, if you stop on the surface. Wealth isn't just measured in money and strength isn't always from a muscle. The community part is important. And respecting the stone we live in is important to dwarves of course."

[Marian Hawke]

"I guess," allows Marian. "Not really for me though."

[Varric]

"Fair enough- where you leaning towards?"

[Marian Hawke]

"Zanon," she mutters, then appends, "Vangal. Kato. I don't know, something that's more me."

[Varric]

Bit of a spread there... "Well, what parts of you do you want to embrace? Or which parts do you want to develop and grow? Your patron can be either of those things."

[Marian Hawke]

"I don't know. I lie all the time -- maybe I should just embrace that and go Kato. Or, maybe I should go with this protectiveness I have for my family. But I'm not very Vangal otherwise. I wouldn't fit with Bastion, that's for sure."
