Wylde

"Pfft! Can you imagine me digging into some hole in the ground? All stale air and darkness? No thank you. I'm a forest girl."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch laughs dryly and rattles off a dwarven phrase that would translate as "Don't throw the gifts the gods gave you into the dark"

Wylde

"Same to you," she rattles off in Sylvan -- a classic retort for her whenever people prattle at her in a language she doesn't speak.

Solras, The Protector

"<Syl>I havent thrown away the gifts the gods gave me, nor suggested that I should.</Syl>" Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch replies in a flowing melodic voice. Her normal flat monotone she uses when speaking Common is completely absent, replaced with actual inflection and depth of voice, as well as a *TERRIBLE* accent.

Wylde

Wylde bursts into good-spirited laughter. "Your accent is terrible," she replies, still in Sylvan. "Where did you learn, from a tree?"

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch shrugs "<Syl>The druid I learned from was pretty far gone. Spent more time in beast form than out of it. I get the feeling People hurt her real bad at some point, but felt it wrong to pry.</Syl>"

Wylde

"That's fucked up, I'm sorry," says Wylde, sobering. "Did you spend a lot of time with druids?"

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch shakes her head "<syl>Not long, only the one season. After the snows melted she made it clear I wasn't wanted, so I left</syl>" an audible sigh and Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch switches to common, likely to hide the sadness she feels at that memory "But that is a tale for the bards, not a dwarf in the watch."

Wylde

Wylde makes a sympathetic noise, nodding. "Unrequited love?"

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch tilts her head to the side, plainly puzzled by Wylde's comment. "What?" is the only response she gives, her monotonic Common making it hard to parse the exact emotion, but given her body language it's pretty easy to guess confusion.

Wylde

"Your druid," says Wylde, gesturing toward Solas with her mug. "You had a crush and she didn't reciprocate?"

Solras, The Protector

"Why would I wish to crush her? 'twould have be cruel, and evil of me to take her life. And why would I desire that she wish the same of me?" Still talking in the monotone that is her Common voice Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch still manages to radiate genuine confusion. It seems something's getting lost in translation, and given her normally excellent command of Common, it's not the words themselves.

Wylde

Wylde blinks. "No, not crush her -- a crush. You were attracted to her. Romantically."

Solras, The Protector

Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch looks just to the right of Wylde's head for a solid minute, thinking over the implications of Wylde's words. Finally she speaks.

"<Dwarvish>I'm afraid that I do...</Dw>" she says before shaking her head and switching to Common "<Com>I'm afraid I do not understand that concept. I have long been curious about it, but understand it I do not."

Then a pause, and just when Wylde might think that Solras, Daughter of Umdor, and Elder Private of the Watch was finished she speaks once more "Sorry. I hope one day I may understand..."

Wylde

Wylde shifts a little. "Well, it sounded like you wanted to be around her forever, right? Like she made you happy? And it hurt like all hellfire when she sent you away?"
