A breeze blows through the open window, sending the folded note  fluttering to the floor. The note lands open, showing the words written inside.

This is our daughter, love her as we do, care for her as we cannot, help her grow strong and just, we beg this of you.

At the breeze the song abruptly cuts out and the glow fades slightly to show something moving inside the floating bundle of... blankets?

yamikuronue

Siegfried steps forward, taking the bundle into his arms gently, eyes misting with tears.

CalamityJade

Morden was...actually quite stunned. He knelt down and picked up the note. Reading over the lines he gave a bit of a sigh. "....that...is definitely not what I expected." Still...this was quite a...wondrous event.

yamikuronue

Vi still seems to be dancing, though only she can hear the music anymore. Moonlight streams in through the broken window, falling conspicuously onto Vi's form, almost as though highlighting her.

CalamityJade

That, Morden was able to see...though of course this one also didn't look like anything he'd seen before. "Um...Violet?" There was definitely a rather ominous feeling going on again.

yamikuronue

She stops dancing for one brief heartbeat, opening her eyes to meet Morden's.... and then the room is flooded with a purple light and the smell of violets. Later, when they can see again, the evidence will be unmistakable: a lightning bolt arced through the window and into Vi, dropping her where she stood. And yet, there's no burning smell, just an overwhelmingly floral perfume.

CalamityJade

Morden was, for lack of a better term, shocked. She...what...HOW?! It was obviously unnatural, and not at all what should have occurred, but she was dead! he could tell without moving much closer that she was gone...but why was she gone! She'd been here a short time, helped them with their information because some other power had moved her to do so, and now she was dead! He was confused, overwhelmed and honestly sadden by the amount of loss the day had...but he could not entirely shake the feeling that she was alright. It made...absolutely no sense.

yamikuronue

"So, here's the deal."

Sigfried jumps, turning to face the voice from the hallway, clutching the baby tightly.

The woman standing there is unmistakably the same woman as the corpse by the window -- and yet, at the sametime, so much more so. Her already good teenage skin is now unnaturally flawless, porcelain-like. The streaks in her hair almost glow, and the edges of her form seem wavery, almost gaseous.  The twinkling joke in her violet eyes is the most human thing about her, really: she's always seemed like she was getting away with something.

CalamityJade

Morden jumped and turned towards the voice. He squinted his eyes  at the woman. "You...do not look like a spirit." Which was honestly the most non-conflicting thought he had right now."

yamikuronue

She grimaces. "So, here's the deal," she repeats. "Remember that goddess I told you about, that visits me in my dreams? Apparently, that was me the whole time. The real me."

CalamityJade

"...you were giving messages to yourself?" That sounded...rather complicated. "I...do not quite understand. I would think that such a thing would be unbelievably noticable to anyone that could see it...but you looked human."

yamikuronue

"I was. Temporarily. I constructed a human body, and put my.... essence, I guess, into it, without any of my usual memories." She smiles, ruefully. "See, this whole Echo thing? It could have been violent. Like, levelled city blocks violent. And while I'm all about chaos and breaking down established stagnation, I'm not about senseless killing. So I thought I'd lend a hand."

CalamityJade

"...and you didn't simply tell us directly...possibly because of limitations?" Morden tried to think through that. All that WAS A lot of magic. More than you usually see in one spell...it's possible if it was to suddenly become unstable that...well, something terrible would happen.

yamikuronue

"I didn't know, once I'd built the body. I'd limited my own memories except while I was dreaming." She cricks her neck.

"So, here's the bit I always forget about though: I'm actually a goddess. Like, honest to goodness Goddess." She smiles. "And I've done you a good turn, basically saving your life."

CalamityJade

Well...it wasn't as if...right, there is a good chance that some of that information would not have come to light without her intervention. One thing you should always strive to do is understand where information is coming from and not attribute all of it to your own thoughts. "You sound as if you wish to ask a favor...which, as I think about it, seems comical as you are a Goddess." Besides, it didn't seem to have any malice to it. And anything she asked would have to be explained. For the time being, he would wait to see if she COULD tell anything about him and find some amount of proof to the statements.
