The Family [Finished]

[yamikuronue]

"Uh, I did," she stammers, sounding more masculine in that moment. "Things kind of got nuts, and people were asking what was even going on, and I didn't know how to explain, so I blurted out that you were there to save me, and then I explained how, and everything got weird."

[accalia]

"Hmph. Not what i meant. Did he say you couldn't work for him, or did you? Though to be fair he would have earned a broken jaw if he's outed you when you didn't want that."

[yamikuronue]

"Please don't break the boss' jaw," she says, almost by rote.

[accalia]

"Only if he earns it. though as stubborn as he is I'd be more likely to break my fist on it." Tony comments. "Talk to him soon, okay. I didn't go through all this to have him his back on you, or visa versa really."\

and as if to break the tension Tony's stomach growls loudly.

"God i'm hungry.... I feel like i haven't eaten since the creation."

[yamikuronue]

Vic nods. "I'm going to the store to get some bread, and then I'll make soup for dinner." She smiles, shyly, and goes to grab her shoes from the corner.

[accalia]

"Run fast then." Tony laughs "Before i start gnawing on my arm for sustenance."

[yamikuronue]

"I will." She hesitates, and he can see the decision cross her face before she says, in a falsely breezy tone, "Bye, love you."

[accalia]

Tony nods, "I too." He replies, slipping back against the couch, He's too hungry to sleep, but too weak to get off the couch to get food.

[yamikuronue]

Of course, ten minutes after she leaves, there's a knock on the door -- an urgent pounding that makes the door rattle against its hinges.

[accalia]

Tony sighs. of course...

"Come on in!" he calls loud enough to be heard outside "Not like i can get to the door to let you in right now."

[yamikuronue]

The door rattles again; the knob turns, and the door is pushed open to reveal an anxious Gabe, brother of Vic. He looks around the room quickly, then fixates on Tony, his voice strained and hoarse:

"Where is he?!"

[accalia]

"At the store, getting some bread." Tony replies trying to sit up to meet the guest "Said he'd be back in a bit. I believe him."

[yamikuronue]

Gabe searches his face, looking for any sign of a lie. This gives Tony a good look at Gabe: the stubble, the dark circles under his eyes, the fact he's mis-done his bottom few buttons. It's clear things aren't going well for Vic's blood relatives.

"Then I'll wait here until he gets back," he says, a note of determination in his voice.

[accalia]

"Sure, I woun't complain about that if you help me get my ass into the kitchen. is easier to talk at the table than on this...." Tony realizes that what he's on can barely be called a couch anymore, the frame's broken and the cushiones are destroyed from him using it as his bed for years..." thing" he eventually settles on.

[yamikuronue]

Gabe frowns. "....You look like you ought to be in bed," he says, but he moves to help him up anyway.
