The Family [Finished]

[yamikuronue]

Vic blinks. "Uh, okay, we can get food first."

[accalia]

"Right then. Catch." Tony says tossing the car keys to Vic.

[yamikuronue]

He catches them , fumbling and almost dropping them. "Wait, what?"

[accalia]

"Time to learn how to drive." Tony says evenly, walking to the passenger side "No time like the present."

[yamikuronue]

"Uh. What if I crash your car?" Vic calls, alarmed, as he scrambles after Tony.

[accalia]

"Then you'll have to pay for repairs." Tony says matter of factly "Think of it as a good incentive not to crash."

[yamikuronue]

"But-- But!" he stammers, stopping next to the passenger door.

[accalia]

"Tony gently pushed Vic away from the passenger door. "No butts. You're not a smoker."

[yamikuronue]

Vic looks at him in horror for a moment. Then he shuts his mouth, squares his shoulders, and straightens. "Alright. Okay. I can do this."

He heads for the driver's seat, pulling open the door and sliding in.

Tony gives Vic a short introduction to the operation of the car, explaining how to shift, how to break, and what to do when he stalls the engine. Tony plainly expects that Vic will stall the engine but also seems to accept it as part of the learning experience

Vic pays rapt attention, clearly absorbing as much as he can out of fear of crashing the car. When the explanation is done, he starts the engine, hesitantly, testing the pedals while still in park to get a feel for where they are.

"Good, not put the car and gear and pull out." Tony says, He's thought ahead and they were parked facing out so Vic didn't have to worry about reversing the first time he drove.

Okay... okay, that means... this lever and... that pedal? When the car begins to move, Vic starts, slamming his foot on the brakes by reflex.

[accalia]

Tony jerks forward in his seat at the sudden deceleration, but other than a momentary wince of discomfort from the seat belt he doesn't let it show. "let's try that again, a bit farther this time maybe?"

[yamikuronue]

"Uh... sorry," he stammers, looking down at the controls again. "Okay. Uh." He lets off the brake, letting the car ease forward under its own power.
