She laughs. "There is that."

[accalia]

"Upside is, being a desk jockey i get to see you, at least at the start of my shift and the end of it."

[yamikuronue]

"True. And you're less likely to get shot -- though, you seem to have managed it anyway." She'd noticed his wound the night before; she didn't say much at the time, but that's a nasty one she knows, and it concerns her that he's gotten shot outside of work.

[accalia]

"Yeah, though i don't plan on getting shot again.... Course i didn't plan on this one either."

[yamikuronue]

"Maybe someday you'll trust me with the story," she says, trying to keep her tone light as she makes a left turn.

[accalia]

"I already trust you with the story, but it's not mine to tell. To tell it i'd have to betray someoneelse's trust, and that's not something i can do and remain myself."

[yamikuronue]

"So this has to do with Vic?" she adds, quietly.

[accalia]

Tony doesn't reply, but his expression and body stance screams 'now you know i can't tell you that, It's one thing if you work it out for yourself, but i can't confirm it' which is confirmation enough for Kate.

[yamikuronue]

She nods, humming slightly as she thinks. Finally she says, "As far as I know, it's no secret he came to me when you were hurt. He needed somewhere to lie low for a bit, and some money. I gave him a loan, enough to buy a train ticket out of town, and wheedled a promise that he'd write me as soon as he had a new address -- I told him it was so I could get my money back, but I mostly wanted to keep tabs on him. He was... not in a good place, I could tell, but there was only so much I could do."

[accalia]

"See, I knew telling him to go to you if the worst should happen was a good plan. ... Sorry you got involved with that."

[yamikuronue]

"It's no big deal, I'm happy to help. But I'm concerned about you both. It sounds like you're mixed up in something bigger than the department."

[accalia]

"Well.... yeah...." Tony admits "Though right now i'm just trying to get out from the whole situation. I'd say it was a mistake getting involved, but if I hadn't i wouldn't have met Vic and.... and you wouldn't have twisted my arm to accompany you to the wedding."

[yamikuronue]

"I might have," she admits. "But I'm glad you're helping Vic get out."

[accalia]

"He needed the help. You know what a softie I can be when others need help."

[yamikuronue]

"Yeah," she says, and there's genuine fondness in her voice.
