The Family [Finished]

[accalia]

"Mail call" Tony says, handing Vic his letter and flower.

[yamikuronue]

"What...?" he says, but the confusion is lifted when Tony hands him the letter. And promptly replaced; a flush comes to her cheeks, as she tenses.

"What."

[accalia]

"Apparently you've found an admirer" Tony says as he walks into the house followed shortly by Vic. Tony walks into the living room to change out of his uniform, leaving Vic alone in the kitchen.

Upon opening the letter Vic finds a brief note.

Vic, You looked like you could use a bit of a cheer up, so have a flower on me. You're a good person, whomever you eventually decide to be. Anytime you want to talk, or listen, let me know and I'll happily treat you to an ice cream float.

Vic lowers his forehead to rest on the counter, taking a deep breath and trying to quell the immediate flight instincts he's having. It's okay. I'm safe. This is just... uh... Tony will know what to do with this. This isn't a big deal. I'm not blown, I don't have to run.

[accalia]

Tony reenters the room a couple of minutes later buttoning up his shirt.

"So, was it a good letter or a bad one?" he asks mildly.

[yamikuronue]

"Uh. You'd be mad if I moved to Canada right?" Vic hasn't lifted his head; the cool countertop feels kind of nice.

[accalia]

"Mad? no, but that seems a bit extreme a reaction. What's up?" Tony replies now rather concerned.

[yamikuronue]

"Bear knows."

[accalia]

Tony's eyebrows shoot up his face to his hairline "Does he? Is he blackmailing you or something? That doesn't sound like him."

[yamikuronue]

"Nooo," he says, drawing out the 'o' into a sort of uncomfortable curiosity. "I think he wants to be friends?" he concludes, after a moment, to the countertop.

[accalia]

"That sounds more like Bear." Tony says thinking carefully "He comes off pretty gruff, but he's actually a pretty nice guy."

[yamikuronue]

Vic raises his head from the countertop. "Is he trustworthy?"

[accalia]

Tony shrugs "I've never had problems with him being discrete. He's a good officer."

[yamikuronue]

"So if he finds out I'm crooked, I'm fucked, but otherwise I'm okay to talk to him?"

[accalia]

"basically" Tony admits "Though i wouldn't worry too much about him finding you're crooked. He probably won't turn you in or try to arrest you. Though it might be best to avoid finding out if i'm right on that score or not."
