The Family [Finished]

[accalia]

"You know what you're doing plenty well enough. but... if you insist... grab Little Jim and have him ride shotgun. I'll radio to Angry Andy to swing by and pick Jim up when his route takes him past that neighborhood in about twenty minutes."

[yamikuronue]

Vic nods. "Thanks," he says, shuffling his feet a bit.

[accalia]

"That's settled then. anything else?" Bear asks as Vic seems to have something else on his mind.

[yamikuronue]

"No. Thanks." He takes a deep breath, then puts on a smile. I will not ask him if that was okay. It's clearly okay. It's fine.

[accalia]

Bear nods and picks up the radio handset to page Andy as he had promised. "Have fun then. And I wouldn't be surprised if Kate stops by at some point. It's her day off tomorrow too and I think she has Plans." he manages to say before actually making the page.

Vic nods, heading off to find Little Jim.

Vic's asleep when Tony gets home; he's tucked into his bed, but he doesn't seem to be sleeping soundly. His hand twitches, clinging to the comforter tightly, and his face is scrunched slightly, as if he's mildly concerned about something.

[accalia]

Tony smiles and walks back downstairs to make some coffee, it was going to be a long day and coffee helps with that.

As the water starts to boil and the smell of coffee starts to fill the kitchen there's a knock on the door...

When he answers, Kate hefts a grocery bag. "Breakfast?" she asks, not waiting for him to speak.

[accalia]

"I'll not say no to Supper." Tony agrees, alluding to the fact that he just got off night shift. "I take it you heard the news?"

[yamikuronue]

"Of course," she says, bringing the groceries inside and beginning to unpack. Eggs, orange juice, bread... Hey, since when is champagne part of breakfast? "Congratulations."

[accalia]

"harumph. Another promotion that i didn't want, more responsibility, more paperwork, less time to actually do work." Tony grumps mightily.

[yamikuronue]

"But the pay's good, right?" she teases. "And there's benefits to being on the day shift."

[accalia]

"I won't deny that." Tony admits "But i'd rather just be on the street again. The job was easy when i was a beatcop. this desk jockey thing is..... ugh." Tony fails to find a word for his feelings and just goes for a vocal grunt that expresses the emotion instead.

"Hard?" she asks, sympathy in her voice.
