The Family [Finished]

When Tony gets home that evening, he's hit with an amazing smell: that's definitely garlic, and it smells awesome. Did Vic order food delivered?

As he makes his way to the kitchen, he spies a meal laid out on the table: garlic bread, spaghetti, meat sauce, meatballs. If he ordered out, he went to a lot of trouble to make it look like he didn't; the pasta's in a big serving bowl from the kitchen, and the bread's sitting on a plate matching the two empty ones set at two places on the table. He's even placed out forks, napkins, and water glasses.

"well isn't that a sight." Tony states appreciatively as he hands his light jacket on the back of a chair "Is it a special occasion or are did you just feel the need to have a fancy meal?"

[yamikuronue]

Vic comes out of the kitchen, holding a bowl of grated cheese and hanging his head. He has a bandage on one finger that wasn't there this morning, as well as an apologetic expression. "Hi," he manages.

[accalia]

"Hello. Bear told me you weren't feeling well so he sent you home to recover. It seems you're feeling better, good."

Apparently Bear hadn't filled Tony in on the full details of the conversation then.

[yamikuronue]

"Oh. Uh," he says, quietly. "He made me sleep," he admits, shuffling his feet.

[accalia]

"Best cure for a cold I know." Tony admits taking a seat "Thanks for preparing the meal. It looks fantastic."

[yamikuronue]

"Thanks. I asked Gabe-- my brother -- how he makes his garlic bread."

[accalia]

"Smells like you managed to knock it out of the park."

[yamikuronue]

He nods. "The second try worked great."

[accalia]

Tony shrugs "Mistakes happen."

[yamikuronue]

As they sit down to eat, Vic seems to be back to normal; he's quiet, but he also eats with more energy than he had before, and he doesn't stop to yawn once. Seems the nap did him some good.

As they're finishing up, he clears his throat. "So uh... I've been thinking."

[accalia]

"Indeed?" Tony says, filling space while waiting for Vic to continue.

[yamikuronue]

"Well, rather, Bear's been thinking, and I guess... I guess I haven't been." he admits, blushing faintly. "He says if I don't improve my performance, I'll make things worse for you at work."

[accalia]

Tony nods solemnly "This is true, Which is a shame really, you were well on the road to being offered a full time position, rather than the intern one you currently have. Your recent performance has... well it's been less than we expect for a full time officer, let alone and office admin."

There's no disappointment in Tony's words, just simple facts.

[yamikuronue]

Vic nods. "But you know I can't just quit my other job. So. I guess..."
