Starlight, that's not something you can control. I mean, the chances of that are really low, especially as long as you don't say where you're living at. Also, people fight all the time, there's no reason to think that person is more you than someone else. Besides, if they were going to jump on something like that with only knowing your stepdad doesn't like your boyfriend, then they might have tried that anyway.

Also, IS that something happening? Because it sounds kinda rough.

I kinda have a lot of hair, so I might not go with the big ribbon and having twin bows with long hair is kinda like giving it away. I think I remember someone putting up a flyer for the ball so I'll go ask them about the dance committee. Also It's not...always anime hair >_> And I only really wore it like that when I was trying to figure out a costume. I figured it'd have to be something people would be able to recognize, but also not get ripped? I can't make clothes out of magic, so I don't think I can do skirts and boots.

But the dance! I should maybe ask the committee first and then my date. He's probably got something picked out already, so that'd make it easier. I'll see what ribbons I already have and see if any of them work.

Why would you have a restriction like that?! How are you supposed to protect the innocent and fight against evil if you can't keep yourself safe?

Starlight, you can't let either of them push you around. You have magic and you want to use it to help people, so you shouldn't let them make you feel like you can't! You should tell them that if they want to get along with you, they have to stop fighting each other and that you shouldn't be made to feel bad because they don't like each other.

I mean, I live with my boyfriend now, kinda. So I'm safe enough. I just... it's not like... I've always been a disappointment to my family, and my stepdad's just the most blunt of them. And my boyfriend doesn't like that, and he's just as blunt. That's really all this is. But with a lot more magic. It's really weird being a magical girl, neither my family nor my boyfriend's family are sure what to do with that. It's like... I was supposed to be something else, right, like my sisters are, but I'm not, I'm this instead. And they're stronger than me, and they're less of a disappointment. I'm not even sure what-all I can do. Mostly I glow a lot and have pretty ribbons.

Oh...well that's stupid. How can you be a disappointment! You shouldn't have to be whatever other people think you should. You should be yourself....which happens to also be a cool magical girl! As far as knowing what you can do, that's...yeah. I'm not totally sure either. I can do a couple of things, but I don't know what one of them really does. I guess not all magical girls get guides?

I would think you would only get a guide if you were being powered by something to BE a magical girl. I imagine some would have their own magic or something that lets them do magic. That's why Sailor Moon is different than Pretty Cure or Cardcaptor Sakura.

Body: Vampire Slayer, technically, but she also hunts down predatory demons as well. It's something of a title-if you're familiar with the Knights of the Cross, ie, that guy Vormir who's getting married by the Pope, it's somewhat similar. Not tied to a religion though, it's arcane based.  The Slayer is a magically augmented human, always a young female, that is empowered to fight evil non-humans. The line is thousands of years old and while on paper, they might not look like they stack up to a Fae Lord, they have a surprisingly good track record of defeating demons that should have easily killed them.

...it occurs to me, the Slayer is technically a Magical Girl. Maybe. Doesn't transform but...

If we're counting being able to use wizardry while female as qualifying as being a magical girl, I learned most of what I know by inheritance (a mentor of sorts, passed down). The rest comes from study, research and practice (with a bit of ohcrap-ohcrap-ohcrap heat of the moment improvisation).

Well, mine didn't start till after the Emergence (or Convergence...I think someone keeps changing the Wikipedia entry to whatever people call it now) so I'm still kinda working out how things work. I know how to transform tho! It's really cool and I think I can make it looks slightly different, but I'm kinda glad it doesn't make clothes or someone might see me naked.

I was actually able to find some past records about someone that had the same powers. Granted, it was mostly folklore and a lot of...people assumptions on if it was some sort of magical creature or a person in disguise, but most of it appears to work as they spoke of.

I don't know if you can find a copy, but it was "Mythological Fables and Stories through the Ages" Volume 4 by Dr. Nathaniel Harris. It's kinda a thick book but it goes into a lot of detail about different legends around the world. Even if you don't find your amulet, you might be able to find something to figure out how your powers work. It's kinda where I got the idea about Magical Girls either having something giving them magic or having particular magic to go that way. He even mentioned how that could be the explanation for a lot of myths about legendary females, but he mentioned that demigods were also probably something like that.
