The Family [Finished]

[accalia]

"Good, we'll walk then since it's just across the street. Best banananana splits you ever saw." Bear says standing and shrugging on his coat. Bear lives up to his name in size at least, he's huge!

[yamikuronue]

Vic trots after him, keeping quiet. He's good at disappearing; he's great at being in the room without anyone remembering he's there. He's quiet, unobtrusive, inoffensive.

[accalia]

Bear enters the ice cream parlor across the street, it's one of those old establishments that have been in their location for so long that no one remembers the original name of the place and the owner hasn't bothered redoing the signage because everyone knows the place. Bear orders "One ultimate split, and two spoons" at the counter, before taking a seat at a booth and waiting for Vic to join him.

Vic blushes faintly -- oh, they're sharing? That's. Uh. -- and has a seat as well. Thinking of Tony, and wanting to be more assertive, he makes the first move, asking quietly: "How long have you known?"

[accalia]

"Known what? that you're a good kid in a tough spot? That ain't so hard to spot. You got Tony's attention and he's been sticking to you like glue, that's enough evidence for me to know i should look after you too, and lately you've seemed a bit down so i figured i should try to break you out of the funk."

[yamikuronue]

Vic shakes his head. "I mean about... me. How did you find out?"

[accalia]

Bear pauses and looks at Vic seriously "Is there something i should find out about you? Like I said, you're a good kid in a hard spot, i decided to look out for you because you looked like you needed a friend. That's all really."

[yamikuronue]

Vic stares at him, flushing. "Wait... you don't know? I thought that's why you sent the note. You said--" nothing about what gender I decided to be. The flush creeps up to his ears. "Oh. Oh crap."

[accalia]

"hey now, it's not crap, it's the best damn banananana split on the planet, and it's far to big for me to eat alone." complains Bear as the sundae is delivered to the table, the thing had to be at least thirty pounds. It was huge!

[yamikuronue]

Vic buries his face in his hands, trying to regain some composure. Shit... now what?!

[accalia]

Bear hands Vic a spoon "Come on,  help a bear out. Besides, ice cream makes everything better."

[yamikuronue]

Vic takes the spoon, lowering his hands. "Sorry," he mumbles, digging into a bit of ice cream.

[accalia]

"I bet Tony has been at you to stop apologizing like that." Bear says with a laugh "So, i think i'll give it a pass."

[yamikuronue]

"So... what kind of hard spot do you think I'm in?" he ventures, cautiously.

[accalia]

"Dunno. Don't really care either." Bear says between bites "figure you'll tell me if you need to, otherwise it ain't really my business."
