I will look for that book, yeah. Meanwhile, maybe that's a good idea, Librarian?

Oh that's a good one- Dr. Harris is a bit rambly, but he really does a proper job researching before he publishes. I'd also recommend his "Compendium of Non-typical Flora and Fauna" for general reading. Not likely to have anything related to magical girls but it's a good read (I think he got an assistant or a beta-reader to polish that one, it's much easier to follow).

@StarlightShiori you should have an alert in your inbox! Let me know if you need help editing the details or whatnot.

Body: Personally? Just as a 'friends of friends' sort of thing. As... colleagues, I know a few packs of various types and I know about a lot more. What kind of werewolf did you need to know about/meet? Or... ah. 'Blunt' and 'stubborn?' That would fit pretty well for most kinds of weres I'm familiar with.

Body: Yeah. I don't know. Are all packs so... homophobic? I have a gay cousin that gets it worse than I do. My boyfriend thinks so, but my sisters keep saying my pack is totally backward, so... I don't know.

Body: Many types of weres either have longer life spans or live carefully apart from wider cultures, both of which lend to a more conservative culture. Which, in turn, discourages any type of 'standing out' among its members, which includes things like homosexuality.  It's not, however, an intrinsic part of being a were (at least any type of were I'm familiar with, which I would hazard to say is most if not all of them saving perhaps some one-off curse types).  You'd find the same sort of mentality with most any kind of reclusive or isolationist group, magical or mundane.

So no, being a were does not automatically make you homophobic nor excuse you for being so. I hope things improve for both you and your cousin. Please get help if you need it and thank you for being willing to talk- with me and with everyone else on the board.

I had not heard of that text. I've heard that some more brainy-types that he's supposed to be working on some other books. That book does sound like it might be helpful if you run into something dangerous attacking people. I think I rescued someone from a goblin once.

Oh! Were they alright?! I thought that most people hadn't had anything really dangerous happen to them. Also, you sound like you're having a good time with this. Have you been doing it long?

Long enough, it seems. And they were alright. Mostly scared.

Actually, that reminds me. One thing you should really try to do is not scare people when you're trying to save them. Sometimes if you're really tired from a fight and you try to check on them, they may take the 'covered in monster spit'' look to be a little intimidating. Try to smile when checking to see if civilians aren't hurt. Believe me, it makes things a little easier.

That's another thing. How do you like... do that? I mean, find people to help and all that?

Body: I mean, what can he even do though? He can't just run away from home forever, that's irresponsible and stupid. He's out of the closet now, so there's no point trying to hide it. So he's just stuck taking his beatings and licking his wounds.

Body: Well, for one, if he's of age, it's not running away, it's just moving out. There are support groups, some for homosexuals specifically, that can help your cousin get himself set up properly. If he's not of age, Avaski Corporation has established a magical school (Hogwarts mets Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters) that he could attend- I know they've gained custody of at least one student due to a less than healthy home life so that might be an option.

If you can't convince him to leave (and based in the admittedly slim details you've shared, he really should), then he might want to start learning self-defense and other combat training. Given the culture you've implied, the authorities won't step in and it's up to your cousin to convince the abusers to stand down. While it's not the ideal response, putting them on the ground a few times will often (eventually) teach them to stop. Again, I would really recommend moving out but that's an option. The only other course I can see from my limited view is to find an ally that will step in to protect him.

That depends on how your powers work. I've heard of some that can kinda sense when something is going to attack. Most just have to find an area to protect and then patrol it for trouble, but that runs into problems with territorial things and cops.

Body: That's certainly a valid opinion, I can't really dispute that he would be leaving his problem behind rather than facing it down. Whether you (or more importantly, he) considers getting out of his situation to be worth what those left behind might think is another matter entirely. After all, if they've been treating them as they seem to be, why should their opinion matter any longer than he has to consider it?

As for not becoming stronger than them... I'm reluctant to really give any advice on that in fear of starting some kind of miniature arms race or such.

Body: Hello back! I mostly just wanted to offer any help or advice I possibly could. Your cousin mentioned you were having trouble with your pack and, I'm not a were of any flavor myself, I'm familiar enough with the various types and their cultures to have a decent idea on how difficult that can be.

PS- are you familiar with the Harry Potter series? Given your circumstances and handle, I find myself wanting to call you Padfoot  ^^

Body: Heh, that's not necessarily a bad comparison. Padfoot turned out to be a good guy after all, right? I don't know that I'm a hero, per se, just a wimpy, scrawny gay kid. It's not hard to see why I don't fit in.
